Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry Postgraduate Certificate

The Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry Postgraduate Certificate thoroughly explores the most important topics in dental aesthetics. The programme covers scientific documentation, as well as clinical applications, and both biological and practical components are presented at a specialist level by the UCL Eastman Dental Institute faculty and invited international leading experts.

What will I learn?

The programme provides dental clinicians with the theoretical background and the clinical skills to incorporate aesthetic elements into their daily patient care, within traditionally sound restorative principles. With the current technological and research advances, aesthetic dental restorations meet the requirements of biocompatibility, function and longevity, contributing to the patient's overall well-being.

Degree structure

Availability: Part-time 1 year

Students undertake modules to the value of 60 credits. The programme consists of two core modules worth 30 credits each.

  • Science and Properties of Dental Composites and Ceramics
  • Interdisciplinary Clinical Dental Aesthetics

Teaching and Learning

The programme is delivered through a combination of 50% lectures, interactive seminars, treatment planning, and 50% skills laboratory and clinic hands-on training. There is ample phantom head practice of clinical procedures, video demonstrations of live patient treatment, current literature review and a dedicated textbook given.

Entry requirements

All applicants must normally hold an approved dental qualification, have a minimum of two years' clinical experience and have access to clinical practice during the programme.
