"After completing my MSci at UCL’s excellent Department of Mathematics, I chose UCL for my PhD over other universities and enticing city jobs. 

The university is internationally renowned for its research and teaching, and the academic staff have always been friendly, supportive and generous with their time and mathematical prowess. 

Delving into research in abstract algebra, I began to truly appreciate the beauty and power of certain theorems and their corollaries at a much deeper level. 

I intend to pursue a career as a professional mathematician after completing my PhD."
