UCL Student Houses
These are UCL residences in which students are responsible for providing and cooking their own food and cleaning their own rooms (and common areas if living in flats).
Kitchens are provided in which students may
prepare their own food, or meals may be bought from the various food
outlets on the UCL Bloomsbury Campus.
Bed linen is not provided, but can be
purchased. Students will need to supply their own kitchen utensils. Some
of the Houses are large and purpose-built, while others are converted
private houses. Places are offered for 39 weeks. All UCL student houses are non-smoking, including student bedrooms.

Ann Stephenson and Neil Sharp Houses109 Camden Road, London, NW1 9HZ Forming part of UCL’s large residential campus in Camden
Town, Ann Stephenson House accommodates 77 students in single rooms in
flats for two, three, four and five persons. Neil Sharp House provides
18 flats for couples and one flat adapted for students with restricted mobility. Each room has a computer data point. |
Arthur Tattersall House115-131 Gower Street, London, WC1E 6AP This accommodation, immediately opposite the UCL Bloomsbury Campus, is organised as 12 large, self-contained units accommodating a total of 129 students in single and twin-bedded rooms. All rooms are fully carpeted, centrally heated and equipped with washbasins. Each unit has its own kitchen/lounge. Each room has a computer data point. |
Astor College99 Charlotte Street, London, W1T 4QB A purpose-built, centrally heated residence within five minutes' walk of the UCL Bloomsbury Campus. There are 250 places in carpeted rooms with washbasins and each room has its own refrigerator. Facilities include TV lounges, a piano, laundrette and communal study areas with wi-fi and computer cluster facilities. Each room has a computer data point. * Please note that the Windeyer Building, adjacent to Astor College, is a construction site during the 2013-14 academic session. Noise and dust can be anticipated between 8am and 6pm. |
Bernard Johnson House78 Fortis Green, London, N2 9EX Situated in East Finchley, this accommodation provides housing for couples and families in self-contained flats. Facilities include a common room / play room with a TV and a garden. |
Caledonian RoadNearest Underground station: Caledonian Road 350 bed spaces comprising single studios and single rooms, all of which are en-suite. Amenities include: en-suite, TV room, accessible, lift access, study room and computer room. |
Campbell House East and West5-10 and 20-24 Taviton Street, London, WC1H 0BX Accommodation for 227 students in twin and single rooms
only a few minutes’ walk from the UCL Bloomsbury Campus. Both Campbell House
East and West have been renovated in recent years. Both are Grade II
listed buildings, modernised to comply with
houses-in-multiple-occupation standards. All rooms are carpeted and have
washbasins. Each room has a computer data point. TV lounge and launderette facilities are located in Campbell House East. |
Frances Gardner HouseWren Street, Gray's Inn Road, London, WC1X 0HD Situated approximately 20 minutes’ walk from the UCL Bloomsbury Campus, this residence comprises 217 single en suite rooms and one double en suite room, arranged as cluster flats, all with their own kitchen/dining area. All rooms have computer data points. This residence is located just to the rear of Langton Close, so students at Frances Gardner can access facilities at Langton Close. |
Goldsmid House, Wilton Plaza36 Gillingham Street, London, SW1V 1HU Opened in 2008, Goldsmid House is split into flats over two buildings and all 158 single rooms are en suite. A launderette is provided. All rooms have computer data points. Located close to Victoria Station, there is a good choice of bus and tube links. |
Hawkridge HouseWarden Road, London, NW5 4SA This house comprises 238 rooms, split between a 14-storey block where rooms are in flats for two, three or six and a two-storey extension which is more communal. All residents share a common room, computer cluster room and launderette. Each room has a computer data point. |
Ian Baker Housec/o Ramsay Hall, 20 Maple Street, London W1T 5HB A student house comprising 85 single study-bedrooms and six en suite study bedrooms. Conveniently located for UCL, in Hertford Place, off Maple Street on the same landscaped site as Ramsay Hall. Centrally heated, all rooms are carpeted and have washbasins. Each room has a computer data point. Residents may use the laundry and common room in the adjacent Ramsay Hall. |
James Lighthill House3 Penton Rise, London, WC1X 9EN This residence comprises 209 single en suite rooms, two twin rooms and one single without en suite facilities, each having its own computer point and TV socket. The rooms are arranged as cluster flats with a shared kitchen/dining area. Facilities include TV lounge, launderette and computer cluster room. |
John Dodgson House24-36 Bidborough Street, London, WC1H 9BL Approximately ten minutes’ walk from the UCL Bloomsbury Campus, John Dodgson House accommodates 209 students in single en suite rooms. Facilities include shared kitchens, a computer point in each room, a computer cluster room, TV lounge and launderette. |
John Tovell House89 and 93-97 Gower Street, London, WC1E 6AA Four converted, early Victorian houses, adjacent to UCL, opposite the Darwin and Engineering buildings, accommodate 66 students. Students share nine kitchens and one launderette. The house at 89 Gower Street is centrally heated and accommodation at 93-97 Gower Street has individually controlled electrical radiators. Each room has a computer data point. |
Langton CloseWren Street, Gray's Inn Road, London, WC1X 0HD Situated approximately 20 minutes’ walk from UCL, behind a small park, the accommodation is arranged as three to eight-bed self-contained cluster flats, all with their own kitchen/dining area. All rooms are carpeted and have computer data points. All but three of the 270 single rooms are fitted with washbasins. There is a launderette, TV lounge, study room, computer cluster room and a bicycle shed. |
Max Rayne House109 Camden Road, London, NW1 9HZ A purpose-built, centrally heated residence accommodating 299 students. All rooms are carpeted and have their own washbasins. Sharing the same landscaped site as Ifor Evans Hall and Ann Stephenson and Neil Sharp Houses, facilities include a TV lounge, music room, computer cluster room, cycle racks and launderette. Each room has a computer data point. |
Prankerd House195 North Gower Street, London, NW1 2NJ This student house is situated about five minutes’ walk away from the UCL Bloomsbury Campus. It provides self-catered accommodation in 42 single en suite rooms. There are also four double en suite rooms for couples. All rooms are fully carpeted and have central heating. Each room has a computer data point. Facilities include kitchen, launderette and access to facilities at Schafer House about two minutes’ walk away. |
Schafer House168-182 Drummond Street, London, NW1 3HZ Accommodating 369 students, Schafer House is situated about five minutes’ walk from UCL, just north of Euston Road. The accommodation is arranged as self-contained flats, all with their own kitchen/dining area. Students have their own single rooms, each with its own computer data point, which are centrally heated, carpeted and all, except three rooms, are fitted with washbasins. There is a launderette, computer cluster room, TV lounge and a bicycle rack. |
