Update 07 Aug 2013
19 August 2013
it has been quite some time (over 2 months) since I penned an Abacus update for you all. Put simply we have all be so busy and time is ticking - so there has not been much time for me to write to you! Well here is a very brief update on a few things.
CoA : Testing
The CoA Testing is mostly complete and a number of issues were raised. 46 of these were promoted to the main project issues log. 14 of these remain unresolved. 6 of these have been marked as P1. We are working through these and hope to resolve them before our next build of the software begins.
CoA : Build
The work to collect/build the CoA from the departments has begun and we plan to have collected, consolidated and validated the information required from all the departments by the end of the calander year.
The technical team continues to build solutions to the business requirements. As it stands currently we have built solutions to just over 50% of the requirements. A real landmark! :-)
ITESoft OCR invoice scanning/load into Oracle
System testing of the ITESoft solution has been completed. We raised over 15 P1 issues with the software. These have been passed back to ITESoft to correct. Unfortunately our 'window of opportunity' to go live with the solution has now passed and we have taken a programme decision to put the implementation of the solution on hold so that it does not impact the delivery of the other objectives of Abacus. This is very disappointing, especially for the team involved in this project, but sometimes difficult decisions have to be made.
The responses to the reporting project tender (for a reporting tool/implementation consultancy) are due in this week. This is a major milestone on this project, so we are crossing our fingers that we get some good responses!
Many of you are familiar with all the great work that Paul Casha has done of the last few years here at UCL. Paul has decided that his time is up here and he has taken a contract elsewhere. Whilst that will make UCL a much quieter place (haha!;-)) Paul's contribution to UCL life and success will be sorely missed. Paul's last day will be Friday 16th August.
Adeola has been fasting all month. And today was the last day of Ramadan. So you made it, congratulations Adeola. Have a great time feasting tonight!
We say goodbye Ellen who did some vital work for us on Approvals, Security and interfaces. Ellen has left the project to join another project in ISD. We look forward to seeing Ellen around campus and updating her on the Abacus Project. Many thanks for all your work Ellen.
