MSc Public Policy, 2011–2012
Joe Hickey, MSc Public Policy, 2011–2012.
The MSc Public Policy was an excellent programme. It provided the opportunity for students to be introduced to the core elements of policy making and had a strong focus on research methods. Further to this there was a wide range of optional modules which allowed me to specialise in the fields of most interest to me. The programme is centred on providing students with the tools required to complete a dissertation and supporting them in reaching their academic potential
SPP is a great environment in which to study. The academic and research staff are both excellent and accessible. The staff at SPP took a real interest in graduate student’s work with the schools focus on graduate study being apparent from the moment you arrive. Whilst studying at SPP they offered an excellent lecture series that covered a range of topical policy areas and brought in renowned experts and policy makers as guest lecturers.
After completing the MSc Public Policy I took a role at the UK Department for Transport as a Commercial Advisor on Major Projects. In the future I plan on continuing to work in the field of public policy and haven’t ruled out a PhD.
