Dr Chrysa Lamprinakou is a Research Associate. She joined The Constitution Unit in October 2013 and she is currently working with Dr Jennifer Hudson and Dr Rosie Campbell (Birkbeck) on the ‘New Political Class’ project.
Prior to joining UCL, Chrysa worked as an Associate Lecturer at Brunel University. She holds PhD and MRes degrees in Politics from Brunel University, an MA degree in Communications Policy Studies from City University and a BA(Hons) degree in Politics from the University of Essex. Her research contributed to theory building in political parties by offering an alternative integrated approach to the study of political communication and marketing. More specifically, drawing upon the classic approaches of party organisation and political communication and marketing, she developed a conceptual framework of party campaigning in order to bridge the gap between these two literatures on party activity politics. Chrysa is a specialist on British and Greek political parties. Her main research interests include political parties, election campaigns and political communication and marketing, with a particular interest in the area of political professionalization.
Chrysa has worked on various research projects, including an ESRC funded project on constituency campaigning (2010), a McDougall Trust funded project on Electoral system change across Europe (2011-2012) and a European Commission funded project on the impact of Voter Advice Application in UK local elections (2011). Most recently, she carried out a study on the ‘Yes to Fairer Votes’ AV Referendum campaign and authored a report for the Electoral Reform Society.
