Readership in Philosophy of Language - Ref:1326096 UCL Department / Division- Department of Philosophy Grade - 9
Hours - Full Time Salary - (inclusive of London allowance) £51,563 to £56,067 per annum, (inclusive of London Allowance), depending on experience
Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Philosophy is seeking to appoint a full-time Reader in the Philosophy of Language, starting on 1st September 2013.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute in a major way to research, and to teaching. The basic teaching requirement is to provide four course modules over the academic year, at both undergraduate and graduate level, and to supervise graduates. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to examining within the department and play an administrative role in the department as required.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate must have a Doctorate in the Philosophy of Language, and have an internationally recognised research record covering all of the following areas in the Philosophy of Language; descriptions, conditionals, modals, questions, polarity-sensitive items, presupposition, implicature, dynamic semantics, expressivism, game-theoretic approaches to pragmatics, and experimental semantics and pragmatics.
