Research Areas
The School of Pharmacy has a long tradition of excellence in research which characterises our identity as much as our teaching expertise. Our research focuses on advancing and understanding medicines and health care, and in creating new medicines.
It is organised into four divisions
Drug Discovery
Our drug discovery activities focus on three complementary areas: cancer medicines, antimicrobials and natural products as a source of novel compounds against a range of human disease.
Neurosciences
Our research covers nervous system regulation and function in health and disease, with a focus on synaptic function and neuronal circuitry.
Formulation Sciences
Our research activities focus on the sciences and technologies used to develop and understand the final dosage form of medicines.
Medicines Use and Health
Our research examines ways to translate the potential benefits of medicines into positive health outcomes by understanding and shaping the factors that influence their optimal use
