Message from the Programme Director
Thank you for your interest in the MSc in Drug Discovery and Pharma Management.
We have launched this degree programme as an offspring of the very successful MSc Drug Discovery in response to student recommendations and requests over the last few years. There are real opportunities for graduates with added knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and commercial aspects of drug discovery and there will be increasing opportunities for business development by small enterprises in the drug discovery and development process. We have also taken advantage of an opportunity to welcome an alumnus of ours, Dr Nigel Ratcliffe, back to the School as a visiting professor. Dr Ratcliffe was formerly the vice president for regulatory and commercial affairs at Astra Zeneca and he has taught on the MSc Drug Discovery for the last 9 years. He will continue to teach on the core module of The Process of Drug Discovery and Clinical Development 1 and 2 but will also lead the Pharma Management component of this MSc. Dr Ratcliffe’s expertise together with the team of industrial and business colleagues that will support him convinces me that this is a very exciting development guaranteed to be successful.
We are very pleased with the career progression of our past MSc graduates who have gained employment in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry and we have been very encouraged by the positive response of industry to out new MSc Drug Discovery and Pharma Management. Applications are welcome from students with a first degree in medical, pharmaceutical, biological, chemical or any related sciences – please see our entry requirements for further information.
If you are unsure of your eligibility then please feel free to email me and I will be happy to advise and answer any other queries relating to the degree. I look forward to welcoming you to London.
Dr Mike Munday BSc, DPhil (Oxon)
