MSc in Clinical Pharmacy, International Practice and Policy
This programme is designed specifically for overseas pharmacists wanting to develop clinical expertise. Students completing the degree are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to develop enhanced pharmacy services in their native countries.
This 12 month, full time (35 hours per week), taught postgraduate degree programme is offered by UCL School of Pharmacy's Department of Practice and Policy, together with several local hospitals. The programme is designed for overseas pharmacists intending to return to their home countries upon conclusion of the programme. Completion leads to the award of the University of London's Master of Science degree. It does not lead to registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
The programme is centered on the health priorities of the World Health Organization (WHO), and includes both taught courses within the School (e.g. clinical therapeutics, research methods, management, marketing, and international perspectives in health), and clinical/research experiences at local hospitals. The programme requires a substantial commitment to self directed learning. Clinical work experience is essential. Applicants must be familiar with standard software packages including word, excel and powerpoint.
The MSc programme began in 1996, and has drawn international students from countries all around the world, including Algeria, Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, Jamaica Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Malawi, Malaysia, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Palestine, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain Switzerland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Yemen and former Yugoslavia.
