Summer Placements
Competition for a pre-registration place is getting tougher by the
year. The summer vacations are the time for ambitious and determined
students to carry out summer placements and increase their chances of
obtaining the desired pre-registration placement, when the time comes.
If
students have experience in various pharmacy sectors, pre-registration
employers are more likely to invite them for an interview.
Every
year, approximately 2% of pharmacy students are unable to find a
placement for pre-registration. When asked what they might have done
differently, they say they wished that they had spent some of their
vacation time conducting a summer placement.
It cannot be
overemphasised how important it is to have experience in a pharmacy
setting. It would give an opportunity to practice what has be taught
and leant at university and reinforces and builds transferable skills.
