Chair of British Pharmacopoeia Commission
25 August 2017
Professor Kevin Taylor has been reappointed as the Chair of the British Pharmacopoeia Commission for 4 years from 1st October 2017.
The British Pharmacopoeia (BP) comprises monographs, which are published statements of the quality requirements for medicinal products and their ingredients.
These official standards, used by manufacturers and regulators, provide a legal and scientific basis for determining the quality of medicines supplied and sold in the UK and certain Commonwealth countries. The BP is also extensively used as a reference source in pharmacy undergraduate programmes.
Kevin, who also serves on the Commission on Human Medicines, was first appointed Chair of the BP commission October 2013. He will continue to chair the regular meetings of the Commission and will work with fellow commissioners and the secretariat to ensure the Commission prepares the BP and BP (Veterinary) and selects British Approved Names as required by the Human Medicines Regulations.
He will also continue to represent UK interests at sessions of the European Pharmacopoeia Commission, held in Strasbourg, as a member of the UK delegation.
