MSc PFE Students Join UCL Spin-out Intract Pharma
12 September 2017
MSc Pharmaceutical Formulation and Entrepreneurship students Jack Firth and Dan Caplin have recently been hired by Intract Pharma, a UCL spin-out based in the School of Pharmacy.
Both will join Intract as research scientists after completing their MSc course in September. Formed in 2016 by Professor Abdul Basit, Intract Pharma develops advanced drug delivery technologies and unique gastrointestinal models for pharmaceutical product innovation.
When asked about the position, Jack Firth said “This is a unique opportunity to build on the scientific and commercial knowledge I have gained from my master’s course at an innovative pharmaceutical start-up. The multi-disciplinary skills I have been able to foster at UCL have been instrumental in securing this role, and I look forward to contributing to the entrepreneurial culture both within Intract and the School of Pharmacy.”
Dan Caplin commented “I am honoured to have been offered a role within Intract Pharma. The opportunity to continue working with Professor Basit, as well as forging new relationships within the company, was one I could not fathom missing out on. The PFE course has provided an invaluable education and I aim to apply that knowledge to the job, as well as build upon it.”
Bill Lindsay, CEO at Intract, said “Intract is pleased to contribute to the vibrant and commercially important research conducted at the UCL School of Pharmacy through support of its postgraduate programmes. Intract has now hired 6 past students in full-time or part time roles and is very pleased to add Jack and Dan to its team. We believe that the breadth of education received through the School’s MSc course provides an excellent grounding for employment in the biotech industry”
