Personal and social life

What to expect as a student living in the vibrant city of London.

Our desirable central London location gives our students access not only to the best in entertainment and nightlife, but also to academic resources. We are close to, and have teaching and research links with, countless hospitals, museums, galleries, libraries and professional bodies.

The UCL Students Union also provides many opportunities for students. From volunteering opportunities to student clubs and societies, UCL has something for everyone. London is a global hub that provides endless opportunities for students.

Student support and wellbeing

UCL is committed to the wellbeing and safety of our students and we try to give assistance wherever we can to ensure your university experience at UCL is a fulfilling, healthy and enjoyable one. Further information can be found on the UCL website under Current Students. UCL also offers a Psychological Service which can provide support for students experiencing any difficulties.

Advice and support

We recognise that making the transition to university life from school or work is not always easy. The School promotes a community culture and does its best to ensure that all students and staff have someone to turn to when they need help and advice.

Equality and diversity

UCL is committed to respecting equality and diversity in all its activities.

All students and staff must act in accordance with these policies, have respect for others and ensure that everyone receives fair treatment.

UCL will not tolerate any form of bullying, harassment or discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation or socio-economic background. Infringements of these policies by students or staff will be treated very seriously by UCL and may lead to disciplinary and/or fitness to practise proceedings.
