Helping Students in Difficulty

This section contains reference material to allow personal tutors to help students in dealing with common problems. You will find general advice as well as specific links to useful services available to students at UCL and externally. There are also details on staff contacts within the UCL support system and links to UCL policy information.
Much of a
personal tutor’s job cannot be prescribed in terms of preconceived
tasks: it is reactive, a response to students in difficulty. Like all
professional responsibilities it requires knowledge,
skill
and
understanding. See The Role of the Personal Tutor for advice and guidelines on essential knowledge and skills needed.
