Support for Personal Tutors
The primary point of reference for Personal Tutors is their respective Departmental Tutors. It would be expected that appointment, induction and ongoing support of Personal Tutors be arranged by the Departmental Tutor, in accordance with departmental practice and institutional guidelines. The reporting line from there is to Faculty Tutors and thence to Joint Staff-Student Committee (JSSC), Chaired by the Dean of Students (Welfare). Any matters raised by Personal Tutors which aren't readily resolved by the Departmental Tutor should be referred up this line as appropriate.
There may be events and other resources organised from time to time for support of Personal Tutors and exchange of good practice in personal tutoring. These will be communicated by appropriate means at the relevant times.
The link below offers some illustrative synopses of personal tutoring practice in a number of representative departments across UCL. It is hoped in due course that this list might grow to include a much more comprehensive selection if not a complete picture, to facilitate sharing of good practice across the institution.
Personal Tutors' Support Pack
The Careers Service has put together a pack of resources and information
for Personal Tutors with information
to guide students through their identification and pursuit of a career that
they might desire. It also provides information about referring students to us for more in depth assistance
with their career planning.
