Visiting campus
UCL is based in Bloomsbury, the historic intellectual heart of London. Founded in 1826 as an alternative to Oxford and Cambridge universities, it was established so that people of all faiths could have access to education, and its story ever since has been one of radicalism and innovation. You can find out more about the foundation of UCL and read its full story here.
Bloomsbury is located to the south of Euston Road in central London. Close to the West End, Soho, Covent Garden and Camden, it is the ideal base for parents visiting London to see UCL students. A wide variety of hotels are available in the area, many of which are available at discounted rates for members of the UCL Parent & Family Association.
