Programme
Information for Presenters

Audio-visual facilities:

The lecture theatre that will play host to the conference allows slides to be projected either from your own computer or the desktop computer in the lecture theatre. If you plan to use the desktop, please bring a USB stick with your presentation on it.  Please ensure that you have a VGA adapter if you are planning to project slides from a mac. Unfortnunately, we do not have any in-house printing facilities, so please print any handouts that you will need.

Talks:

All talks, except for invited talks, are 20 minutes long, with an additional 10 minutes for questions. We will be strict on timekeeping, so please ensure that your talks run to this length!

Posters:

The poster boards that we are using can accommodate posters up to A0 size (841 x 1189 mm), either portrait or landscape. Smaller posters will not be penalized, but may be less eye-catching!

Poster taster session:

Directly before the main poster presentations on Thursday, there will be a poster taster session, in which all those presenting posters will have the opportunity to give a brief introduction to their work. All presenters will be given two minutes to talk about their posters. This talk may be supported by up to three slides, which should be sent to us at ucl.gcf.ling.15@gmail.com by Friday November 6th.

Practical Information

Transport links:

Chandler House is ~10 minutes walk from Kings Cross & St Pancras stations for national rail services. It is ~5 minutes walk from Russell Square underground station, which is on the Piccadilly line.

From Heathrow Airport: Take the Piccadilly line directly to Russell Square. This is significantly cheaper than the Heathrow Express, though it does take longer.

From Gatwick Airport: Take any train that is going to Victoria Station, then take the Victoria line to Kings Cross.

Food & Drink:

As a free graduate conference, we are unfortunately unable to provide meals. However, coffee, tea, and biscuits will be provided in all breaks, and there will be a free wine reception with light snacks on Thursday 12th November at 18:00 in Chandler House.

Accommodation:

There are a great many hotels near the conference site, but we should point out that most of them are very expensive! Below are some links to (reasonably) low cost accommodation near the conference site:
