PhD student Naheem Bashir wins ‘Focus on the Positive’ funding for his public engagement project on empowering stutterers

Naheem Bashir, a PhD student in Experimental Psychology, has won Focus on the Positive project funding for his research project “Giving people who stutter a voice”.

Focus on the Positive is an initiative organised by the UCL Public Engagement Unit. Researchers taking part in the initiative explain their research ideas at special events where the audience decides their favorite project, which is awarded £2000.

Funding from Focus on the Positive aims to support researchers and their ambitions to make a significant change in the world.

Naheem was able to convince the audience with his project on how to improve the situation for people who stutter. His PhD research focuses on the use of tanscranial direct current stimulation to enhance understanding of the mechanisms underlying stuttering.
