PALS Wins Top Prize at UCL Green Impact Awards

16 September 2015

Once again PALS came out with the top prize at the recent Green Impact Awards Ceremony. The Division was awarded its main prize, the Award for Excellence in Sustainability which is a new and prestigious award.  PALS were clearly UCL’s greenest department as not only did the team complete all tasks in the workbook but they completed four excellence projects. This is an outstanding achievement and testament to the excellent work done by all in the Green Impact Team.

The four excellence projects PALS completed were as follows:

1. Its Not Easy Being Green (led by John Draper)

2. Experimental research on factors influencing the decision to adopt pro-environmental behaviours by UCL community members (led by Jeremy Skipper)

3. Student competition inviting UCL students to develop innovative uses for technology to get staff and students more engaged with green issues and improve the sustainability of UCL (led by Louise Gaynor)

4. Evaluating a waste management intervention to promote recycling behaviour change at UCL (led by Caroline Wood and the Centre for Behaviour Change)

The PALS Green Impact Team were presented with the award (above), which was made from the old Indian Bean Tree  from the front quad. A tree that was much beloved of our previous Provost.
