Abstract: OVER UNDER TAMESAS OVER UNDER
For “One Day in the City”, I propose to document a walk that encompasses The River Thames, treating the volume of water as an object. The walk would be above and below ground, horizontally spiralling the river – over the water via the bridges and under the water using the tube routes. The viewer, through documentation, drawing and text, will become aware of the mass and the structure of the city – architecturally, culturally, socially and geologically evolved around this body of liquid, as well as the connection between the river and the sea, as it squeezes through London, through the hoops of tunnels and bridges and the human presence constantly circling it.
