The Neuromodulation steering group was established in October 2012, the UK Neuromodulation registry collects data on all spinal cord stimulator (SCS), intrathecal drug delivery implant for pain and spasticity (ITDD) and peripheral nerve stimulator (PNS) procedures performed in the UK.
The increased use of these devices for more clinical indications within the UK indicated the requirement for a neuromodulation registry.
The registry is managed by NICOR with clinical direction and strategy provided by the Neuromodulation society of UK and Ireland (NSUKI), a chapter of the International Neuromodulation Society (INS) multidisciplinary professional society that provides education and information exchange on all aspects of neuromodulation.
The board of governance includes representatives from the Faculty of Pain medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FPMRCA), the Society of British Neurological Surgeons (SBNS, the British Pain Society (BPS) including patient liaison, the British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine (BSRM), the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), the Medicines and Healthcare products regulatory Agency (MHRA), the NHS England (NHSE), and the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI).
More information on the UK Neuromodulation registry can be found in the About section.
