Gain confidence to meet challenges of uni life: Being@UCL workshops
13 November 2015
UCL Student Psychological Services is pleased to announce
Weekly workshops scheduled after reading week include:
Belong@UCL: developing social skills
Communicate@UCL: developing assertiveness skills
Settle@UCL: managing the transition to university
Thrive@UCL: developing emotional resilience
The Being@UCL programme has been designed to help students get the
most out of their time at UCL: to help them to draw on their strengths and
talents, and to give them the confidence they need to meet the emotional
challenges of university life as they come up.
Practical skills
Participants will be able to meet other students facing similar challenges, and will have the chance to share ideas and experiences in a supportive, confidential setting; they'll take away new practical skills that will help them make the most of their relationships with fellow students, staff and the UCL community.
The workshops are funded by the university's Access agreement and Widening Participation funds, and are a response to the university's commitment to increasing the recruitment of students who come from groups that have traditionally been under-represented in further education.
As part of the programme, we've also scheduled a series of one-off interactive presentations on Monday evenings during Term 1 that will give students a chance to find out more about resources for personal development that are available to them at the University, including presentations on the work of Student Support and Welfare and an information and advice session on Managing Finances.
If you know of a student who might be interested in attending one
of the workshops or presentations, please do forward this link on to
them.
Students can find further information about Being@UCL, and can book directly onto the workshops through the Student Psychological Services website.
