Native English speakers needed for a listening experiment

10 August 2015

Professor John Harris and his research team in UCL Linguistics are looking for participants whose native language is English to take part in an online experiment about how people learn language.

Native English speakers needed for a listening experiment

The experiment begins by giving some instructions, followed by a volume test. You will then be listening to recordings of potential words of English.

After each one you will be asked to score how natural it sounds as a possible word of English. At the end of experiment, you will be asked some basic background information about yourself (with complete anonymity).

The experiment takes around 10-15 minutes to complete. If you provide your email address in the comment box at the end, researchers can notify you about the results of the experiment, so you can find out how you have supported science.

This study has been approved by the UCL ethics committee (project ID LING 2013-11-12). You may choose at any time to withdraw from the experiment.
