New UCL academic promotions procedure

15 September 2017

A new

Quad lit ucl.ac.uk/hr/docs/proms/index.php">promotions procedure and guidance on building a case for promotion have now been published to help support the new academic career framework, launched earlier this year.

The procedure brings together existing processes for promotion across all the academic career paths (teaching, research, academic) and seeks to simplify and streamline the previous guidance and associated documentation. The guidance on building a case for promotion gives additional information to help develop promotion cases against the criteria within the academic career framework. Please contact Terry Hosten t.hosten@ucl.ac.uk or Mark Rice m.rice@ucl.ac.uk if you have any questions about either document.

The senior promotions round 2017/18, for promotions to grade 9 and 10 roles, is planned to launch on 23 October 2017 and further notification will go out prior to that. This will be the first round using the criteria within the academic career framework and incorporating the new roles of Associate Professor (grade 9) and Professorial Teaching Fellow (grade 10).
