Participants aged 55 and over (or who are about to turn 55) needed for new research study

3 May 2017

Have you just turned 55, or will you be turning 55 shortly? Do you have a smartphone? If the answer to both these questions is yes, researchers from the UCL Institute of Epidemiology & Health Care want to hear from you.

The NHS are starting to invite 55 year olds to have bowel scope screening, a test that can help prevent bowel cancer. UCL researchers would like to know more about the bowel scope testing experience, how physically active you are, and your thoughts on speaking with a healthcare professional about ways to reduce your cancer risk.

What will taking part involve?

  • Participation will last for 11 days
  • You will be given access to an app to download onto your phone
  • On each day, at 5 different time-points, you will be asked to take a few minutes to answer a handful of short questions
  • You will also be asked to wear an accelerometer to allow us to measure your daily activity.

All participants will be entered into a draw to win one of 10 M&S vouchers worth £20.
