UCL Moodle is being improved

21 December 2011

Moodle has been in use at UCL since 2008 as the institutional online learning environment.

Moodle   A new version, Moodle 2, with many improvements and new features is currently being tested to ensure a smooth transition, with the switchover happening in June 2012.

The existing course content and the general structure and behaviour of Moodle is not changing so the transition should not be too disruptive. At the same time, course tutors will need to learn about the enhancements and new features which will improve the experience for tutors and students and allow for enriched course content.  These include:

  • course enrolments and integration of Portico cohorts,
  • look and feel,
  • linking and integration with other UCL systems,
  • enriched course content (video, audio, text, mathematical expressions)
  • mobile access
  • structured pathways through course activities material
  • and more…

Access to Moodle will be read-only, via the Archive, while existing courses are converted to Moodle 2. We are aiming for 16 to 25 June 2012.  Please contact us if you have any concerns.
