New Employment Contracts team in HR Division

17 December 2013

From Monday 6 January 2014, UCL's employment contract administration will be centralised into a new unit within HR.

This restructuring of responsibility within HR will bring together a range of services which were previously split between the HR Operations and the HR Consultancy Services teams.

Created in consultation with users of the services with the objective of improving customer service, the new Employment Contract Administration (ECA) Team will provide a one stop shop service for new and varied employment contracts, all Right To Work issues, Disclose & Barring Service (formerly Criminal Records Bureau) checks and Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) applications.

These changes will increase the capacity of HR Consultancy Services staff to provide advice and support to managers and staff on increasingly complex employee relations issues. They will also facilitate the further development of a centre of expertise in employment contract administration. The alignment of both the ECA Team and the HR Consultancy Services Team to UCL's School structures will result in staff having identified contacts to handle their employee relations and contract administration issues.

The development of the ECA Team has also enabled us to review the processes that support contract administration. Over the next few months HR staff will be working with customers to reform those processes with the objective of simplifying and streamlining them. Reformed processes will be published as Service Level Agreements, which will incorporate service standards and responsibility matrices, outlining actions and information necessary to complete each procedure.

Further information is available on the ECA page on the HR Website https://www.ucl.ac.uk/hr/eca/index.php
