Discover the Bloomsbury Research Institute

10 June 2015

Please come along to find out more about our proposed plans to develop a world-class research facility that will save lives worldwide through the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.

The Bloomsbury Research Institute is a unique partnership between UCL and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, both world leaders in infectious disease research. The Institute will house more than 200 scientists and build on useful links with partners in the UK and worldwide to find new drugs, vaccines and diagnostics for the major global killers - TB, HIV and malaria; as well as neglected tropical diseases and emerging microorganisms. They will also contribute to international efforts to address antibiotic resistance and develop new antimicrobials.

The Institute has identified a suitable site on land owned by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine behind its campus at 15-17 Tavistock Place in the heart of Bloomsbury. This location benefits from close proximity to world-class research centres such as the Francis Crick Institute and access to major London hospitals and patients. BMJ Architects have designed a building for the site to enhance and respect the surrounding environment.

A model of the building and a series on poster boards outlining our current proposals will be on display in Cafe Meeting Room 1 of the UCL Cruciform building from Friday 19 June - Monday 22 June.
