UCL Communications runs campaign to raise awareness of social media accounts

20 September 2013

UCL Communications is running a cross-media campaign to promote the central corporate social media accounts at the start of term.

Social media

The channels - including YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Soundcloud, Flickr and Google+ and the Events blog - promote UCL news, events, and student and staff activity across the community in video, sound, images and text.

Bookmarks promoting the accounts are being distributed to first-year students during the Welcome Fair and posters are being displayed across campus, starting with Torrington Place. A short promotional video has been created by the team for the international students' orientation programme and enrolment in the Jeremy Bentham Room.

The accounts are an easy way to stay updated with developments across the UCL community in an informal way, and have a considerable reach: UCLTV, UCL's YouTube channel, has been the most viewed not-for-profit channel in the UK several times, while UCL Sound has nearly 450,000 followers, more than any other UK university.
