Upgrade to UCL card access control system

8 July 2015

UCL Estates and UCL Information Services Division are planning an important upgrade of the building access control system that cardholders use to gain access to turnstiles and secure doors.

Quad This is due to take place on Wednesday 15 July, with further work on Friday 17 July.

The impact to cardholders will be as follows:

  • Wednesday 15 July (all day)

UCL Security Services will not be able to issue ID cards from the Andrew Huxley Building Security Office.

  • Friday 17 July (after 6pm)

UCL Security Services will be undertaking upgrades of local devices that will affect the operation of the doors. This is likely to affect each door for 10-12 minutes, and will stop both cards working and the exit button releasing the door. IMPORTANT - This will NOT affect the operation of the emergency exit green break glass units for exiting the building in an emergency.

UCL Security Services will be deploying additional security staff in the appropriate buildings to assist building users with any issues. UCL Security Services Operations Room can also be contacted direct on 0207 679 2108 (ext 32108).

UCL Estates apologises for the inconvenience, during this important upgrade to one of our key systems, which will help us to ensure a safe and secure environment for the future.
