Open meeting to develop UCL activities in support of migrants and refugees

27 January 2016

We would like to invite all UCL staff and students to an open meeting to share ideas for activities we might develop to support refugees and others affected by conflict: Monday 29 February, 1-2 pm in Room 113, 26 Bedford Way One aim is to establish a working group of students and staff to develop and coordinate a range of initiatives across UCL.

We hope this will enable us to build on recent action by UCL staff and students. This includes the Refuge in a Moving World research network, a recent motion by IOE's UCU branch in support of scholarships for refugees, and a UCL Student Union vote in support of action organised by STAR (Student Action for Refugees). In turn, UCL has recently announced a new £50,000 donation to CARA, the Said Foundation and the Windle Trust and is coordinating wider fundraising efforts in the UCL community. This has brought UCL activities closer in line with other universities, and with the Citizens UK call for each university to offer a minimum of 10 scholarships to those affected by conflict and violence.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday 29 February, and would be grateful if you could circulate this invitation widely across UCL.
