Occupational Health Service: no smoking day - 14 March

No smoking day is an annual health awareness day in the United Kingdom, intended to help smokers who want to quit. The national campaign makes a big impact, helping millions of smokers each year to take a step forward towards quitting, and thousands to give up for good.

Thank you to all those staff who took part in the 2011 survey, helping to make the return rate this year the highest ever, with £40,590 donated to the Student Hardship Fund from the contribution from each returned questionnaire.

Consultation on proposed amendments to UCL recruitment and selection policy

Staff are encouraged to participate in a consultation process on proposals to amend the University’s recruitment and selection policy. The proposed amendments are intended to reaffirm the principles that underpin recruitment and selection at UCL and to facilitate waiving of the requirement to advertise certain posts in exceptional and defined circumstances.
Participants needed for collecting research study

Participants are required to complete online questionnaires about collecting.
We are particularly interested in recruiting individuals over the age of 35 who self-identify as being a "collector" - that is, a person who has acquired objects of a particular type or theme, as well as people over the age of 18 who know or are related to (child, parent, sibling, or spouse) to adults who maintain a collection or collections.

Call for fellowships for post-doctoral researchers

Post‐doctoral
researchers who have recently been working overseas may be eligible to apply
for a fellowship at UCL, funded by the European Union’s
Marie Curie Fellowships scheme. Eligible researchers
can be of any nationality, age or research field as long as they have not spent
more than 12 months in the UK over the past three years by August 2012.
