Professor Walsh receives two prestigious enterprise awards

9 January 2012

Congratulations to UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience's Professor Vincent Walsh, who has been awarded the prestigious and highly competitive Royal Society Industry Fellowship.

Professor Vincent Walsh UCL Enterprise have also selected Vince as a 2012 Knowledge Transfer Champion.

The Royal Society Industry Fellowship aims to enhance knowledge transfer in science and technology between those in industry and those in academia. It is awarded to either academic scientists who want to work on a collaborative project with industry or to scientists in industry who want to work on a collaborative project with an academic organisation.

UCL Enterprise's scheme seeks to promote Knowledge Transfer to non-academic communities. As a 2012 Knowledge Transfer Champion, Professor Walsh has begun a project engaging with new industries and the legal profession.

Upon receiving the honours, Professor Walsh commented: "These awards give me a great new opportunity to explore working, contributing to and obtaining funding from the industrial sector. It fits with the kind of cross-sector drive we have in the ICN. It also embraces the interdisciplinary approach we are fostering in the new UCL BASc degree. I'm looking forward to working in new ways with new people."

Professor Geraint Rees, Director of UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, added: "I am delighted at these prestigious awards for Vince which provide a very significant boost for the enterprise agenda in cognitive neuroscience at UCL."
