Creating Connections 2

16 April 2012

UCL is running a Creating Connections event on Wednesday 30 May, 6-8pm in the Roberts Engineering Building.

Creating Connections The event will give UCL staff and postgraduate students the chance to engage with the local community and share ideas.

In February, UCL and Camden Shares brought together 70 people from UCL and community organisations across London for the first Creating Connections event. Within the two-hour event ideas for public engagement projects were generated and lots of new connections formed.

The event is open to all UCL staff and postgraduate students whether they have had experience at public engagement or not. Academics from all subjects are welcome and refreshments will be provided.

Dr Helen Chatterjee (Deputy Director, UCL Museums & Collections) explained: "Creating Connections provides a great forum to meet with community representatives, third sector organisations and like-minded academics. The connections I made at the first event were really useful in honing down which community organisations might be interested in partnering with our research and thinking about how to involve particular groups in different aspects of our research programme."

Sarah Elie, Executive Director, Somers Town Community Association, also attended the previous event, and commented: "The Creating Connections event was an inspired approach to opening up differing worlds to the opportunities to be found within collaboration and partnership. It was definitely worth my time in attending and I would recommend it to colleagues."
