UCL appoints Phil Harding as new Finance Director

UCL is pleased to announce that Mr Phil Harding has accepted the post of Director of Finance & Business Affairs.

UCL appoints Phil Harding as new Finance Director He will take up the role in late June 2012.

Phil's appointment follows an extensive search and interviews with a very strong field of candidates. He has an excellent track record in a range of organisations in the commercial sector and the NHS, as well as higher education, and he is currently Director of Finance at City University London.

Professor Malcolm Grant, UCL President & Provost, said: "I am delighted that Phil has accepted this key role. Alison Woodhams, who will be retiring in July, has done an outstanding job in enabling UCL to achieve the kind of financial results we need to underpin our academic performance, and I have every confidence in Phil's ability to build on those achievements".

Phil's strong background in higher education finance, energy and leadership experience will equip him very well indeed for this role and I am delighted for him."

Phil Harding spent his early career in industry with BP and Prudential, before becoming finance director of the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust. He joined the higher education sector as Finance Director at the University of Bedfordshire before spending eight years at the University of Westminster. He joined City University London in 2009.
