Book launch: ‘Church and State in 21st Century Britain’

2 June 2009

Monday 15 June, 1pm, UCL Constitution Unit

Much of the formal relationship between church and state remains locked in the geopolitics of the late 17th century. At the launch of a new Constitution Unit book Church and State in 21st Century Britain: The Future of Church Establishment,
Bob Morris, the main author, analyses the present position afresh and examines the options for change.

Disregarding facile arguments about disestablishment, a case will be made for reform while the matter is important - and before it becomes urgent. William Fittall will respond.

Speaker: Bob Morris (UCL Constitution Unit), editor and main author of Church and State in 21st Century Britain: The Future of Church Establishment
Respondent: William Fittall (Secretary-General, Archbishops’ Council and Synod of the Church of England)
Chair: Robert Hazell (Director, Constitution Unit)

Flyers for a discount on the book will be available at the seminar.

All are welcome but please book a place, via the UCL Constitution Unit events page.
