  • National Academy of Engineering
  • Professor Peter T. Kirstein (UCL Computer Science) has been elected as a foreign associate by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), a US organisation of premier engineers who are elected by their peers for seminal contributions to the field.

Professor Kirstein was commended for his contributions to computer networking and for leadership in bringing the internet to Europe.

Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer in the US. Academy membership honours those who have made outstanding contributions to engineering research, practice, or education including the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, advancing traditional fields and implementing innovative approaches to engineering education.
