13 August 2013

400m runner Christine Ohuruogu (UCL Linguistics 2005) has won her second gold medal at the World Athletics championship in Moscow.

Christine does it again

In a tense race, Christine made a late surge in the final 100m to become the first British female to win two World Championship titles.

She told BBC Sport: "I can't believe I've done that, it feels like a dream "

Regarded as one of Britain's greatest ever athletes, and appointed as the British team captain, Ohuruogu showed real and determination to force herself over the line in what Steve Cram called 'An incredible performance'.

During her time at UCL, Christine was awarded a UCLU Honours Cap, which is presented to students who represent the country internationally in sport.

In 2009, she was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
