Steffen Huck and Christian Dustmann, Professors at UCL Economics, are among the elite of German economists, according to 'Handelsblatt', the country's heavyweight financial newspaper.

In a ranking of German economists working abroad published this week, Professor Huck was the top researcher under 40 and placed sixth overall, while Professor Dustmann was ranked eleventh.

Both professors were in the top five of the newspaper's ranking by publication since 2003, with Professor Dustmann at fourth place and Professor Huck at number five.

The rankings were calculated by publication output, taking into account the reputation and impact of 182 specialist journals.

Professor Huck is Deputy Head of UCL Economics. His work has investigated  the role of trust and fairness for competition as well as issues in bounded  rationality and evolutionary game theory. He is currently working on applications of economic theory to drama and fiction.

Professor Dustmann is the Director of CReAM, the UCL Centre for Research and Analysis on Migration. His main research interests are labour and population economics, and applied microeconometrics.
