Guardian Student Media Award for 'The Cheese Grater'

16 November 2006

UCL student magazine 'The Cheese Grater' has won the Small Budget Publication of the Year category in the Guardian Student Media Awards 2006.

Judges Will Woodward, political correspondent at 'the Guardian'; Tim Southwell, editor of 'Golf Punk Magazine'; and Gordon Thomson, editor of 'Time Out' commented on the magazine's "gang mentality and shameless self-belief". Thomson commended its headlines and added that he found the publication "hilarious".

" 'The Cheese Grater' has existed for only two and a half years; this award honours all hard work that our founding members have put into the magazine," said Mark Ravinet, President/Editor of the title.

The Guardian Student Media Awards recognise and reward the very best student journalists, editors and photographers in 14 categories of award. They have been running for 28 years.
