Neurospsychology prize for Professor Vargha-Khadem

Professor Vargha-Khadem is head of the Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Unit (DCNU) at the UCL Institute of Child Health (UCL ICH), and Consultant Neuropsychologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. The work of the DCNU, established in 1996, has led, amongst other advances, to the discovery of Developmental Amnesia syndrome and the identification of the phenotype and the pattern of brain abnormality associated with the mutation or deletion of a gene that is integral to the development of speech and language (FOXP2).

"I am honoured to receive this prize and would like to thank all the members of our multidisciplinary team at UCL ICH, whose sustained efforts over many years has led to international recognition of this research," said Professor Vargha-Khadem.

The award will be presented to Professor Vargha-Khadem at a special ceremony in Paris in November 2006.
