The way we register to vote changed on 10 June 2014; this means that the head of a household can no longer register everyone who lives at their address. In order to vote in any UK elections, you have to be on the electoral register. Registering takes around 5 minutes and you can fill in your details on the GOV.UK website.
As a student, if you’re living away from home, you may register twice – you might be eligible to register to vote at both your home and university addresses, so you will be able to vote wherever you are at the time of an election.
