Personal and Professional Skills Development
BEYOND THE BUZZWORDS
WHAT'S THE BENEFIT?
Besides the advanced knowledge acquired, the enduring value of a postgraduate degree is in the wide range of high level professional skills and attributes developed in the process - planning & organisation, time & resource management, creativity, communication, to name a few. Apart from their intrinsic personal value, such skills can help you succeed in almost any subsequent career path.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Such skills and attributes cannot be 'taught' in the traditional sense. The courses in the 'Maximising Your Potential' programme offer a structured practical framework for participants to take charge of their own learning agenda for developing personal and professional skills. This provides the opportunity for you to focus on those areas of greatest relevance and development potential, given your individual background and aspirations. Being in the driving seat offers challenge and enjoyment in equal measure.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
The programme is highly recommended for all Graduate
Research Students as a means of enabling you to get the most out of your
experience at UCL in your degree programme, whatever that may be. The
different parts of the programme may be selected as your interests and
needs dictate. Use the links on this page to find out more about the courses of interest and to apply for those which meet your needs.
