Visit the Petrie Museum
End of year closure: the museum will close at 5pm on 22nd December, and will re-open 3rd January. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The museum is open Tuesday - Saturday, 1-5pm, and by appointment only to researchers on Mondays.
If you have mobility difficulties please contact us in
advance of your visit and we will do our best to help. We may be able to
arrange parking for you in the main university quadrangle (off Gower
Street, see map).
There is a banner over the entrance to the museum, which is located on
the first floor of the DMS Watson library. Staff at the security desk
just inside the library entrance will be able to direct you to the
museum (there are signs).
There is lift access to the museum on the first floor, and to the toilet for visitors with disabilities on the third floor. Inside the museum visitors must negotiate two steps to reach the second gallery: a wheelchair lift is available. Occasionally on Saturdays in vacation time, or for evening events, lift access may not be possible; please contact us in advance of your visit to check.
Lighting within the museum is less than ideal, and we offer visitors the loan of torches. Seating is available.
Photography without flash is allowed, but if you wish to order photographs ask a member of the museum staff when you visit.
