Tonya Nelson: Petrie Museum Manager


Managing one of the world's most significant archaelogical collections, Tonya's expertise ranges from intellectual property law to strategy planning.

Tonya is Manager of University College London's Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, one of the top specialist collections of ancient Egyptian artefacts in the world. She is responsible for strategy, fundraising and day-to-day management of the museum. Prior to joining the Petrie, she was head of governance and planning at London Transport Museum. 

Tonya sits on the governance council of the Museums Association and is a member of the Advisory Council on the Export of Works of Art. Before starting her career in the cultural sector, Tonya practiced law at the international law firm WilmerHale where she handled art restitution and intellectual property cases. 

Tonya was one of the participants of the CLI Programme 2010
