Geology Collections staff
The Geology Collections at UCL are jointly cared for by UCL
Museums and Public Engagement and the Department of Earth Sciences, as
such members of staff from both departments share responsibility for
managing the collections and the Rock Room.
Dr. Wendy Kirk
Wendy studied Geology at Bedford College before going on to do not one but two MSc's, one at Imperial and another at Kingston. Originally brought on as a full time curator she now splits her time between the collection and Earth Sciences, where she teaches and acts as an undergraduate tutor. She completed her PhD in 1986, on the structure and metamorphism of the Furulund Group, in Sulitjelma, Norway.
studied Ancient History and Archaeology at Nottingham University before
coming to UCL to study for an MA in Museum Studies. After graduation he
worked as the Assistant Collections Officer at a local authority museum
for just over three years, helping to care for a large and diverse
collection, before moving back to UCL.
