'Lake Menzaleh' (al-Manzalah)

Bone objects found at 'Lake Menzaleh'. date: late Roman - early Islamic.

Petrie 1927: 45: 'A large group of late Roman bone carving was brought by a workman from the mounds in Lake Menzaleh. This region was flooded in the time of Justinian, but the glass coin weights found there indicate that the sites were in uses as late as El 'Aadid AD 1171. There is thus no precise date to the remains from there, ranging from the xiith cent. A.D. back to the iiird, and perhaps earlier.'
