Hawara, Roman tomb

The following objects were found in 1888 by Petrie's workmen. Petrie published the objects without any further description of the tomb, or the bodies found. The presence of a 'doll', the spindles and hairnets led to the conclusion that the burial goods belong to the tomb of a girl or young woman. However, it should be noted that it is only known that these objects most likely form one group, perhaps belonging to a woman. The burial of a mother and child is another possibility.
