Background information for mastaba V at Gizeh

Petrie 1907: 2 on mastaba V in Gizeh:

"In 1904 M. Barsanti found, and M. Daressy excavated, for the Cairo Museum, a tomb of the 1st dynasty, in the plain about a mile and a half SSE. of the Great Pyramid. The account of the work is published in the Annales du Service vi.99."

Petrie did not publish a plan of the site, the exact position of the mastaba is today unknown. It must be in the area of the monument known in Egyptology as "Covington's Tomb". (see map)
